My January Color Adventure: RAH Color Test

RAH Method

As someone deeply passionate about color, I thought I had seen it all when it came to color-related methods. But then, I stumbled upon something completely new to me – the RAH Colour Test. Naturally, I was instantly intrigued. A color test that helps reaffirm which colors resonate with me the most? I had to try it!

The RAH Colour Test is a method designed to uncover the colors that evoke positive emotions in an individual. Developed by artist Raluca Andreea Hartea, this approach is based on the idea that our color preferences are deeply linked to unconscious memories and emotional experiences. By bypassing mental decision-making and tapping into intuitive choices, the test helps identify a personal palette that enhances well-being.

I found Bianca Gualandi online, a certified expert in the RAH Colour Test, and booked an appointment. I went in with an open mind, without expecting a specific outcome – just excited to see what would come up. And let me tell you, the whole experience turned out to be fascinating.

The Process: Tapping into Intuition

Before diving into the color selections, Bianca did something unexpected but really lovely. She first guided me into a positive state of mind by asking me questions about my happiest moments connected to words like love, joy, and excitement… It was like a gentle hypnosis – not in a dramatic way, but in a way that really helped me tap into my emotions without overthinking.

Then came the test itself. I was shown a series of abstract images, created specifically for this test, filled with different color combinations. My task was to simply say whether I liked them or not. Sounds easy, right? Well, not always. Some images had colors I loved mixed with colors I didn’t. Should I keep them or not? The key was to go with my gut and decide fast, without analyzing too much.

In the next phase, I refined my choices, selecting specific areas of the images that I was drawn to. Then, I had the chance to reassess – keeping some colors, letting go of others. At the very end, I rated the remaining colors on a scale from 5 to 10. (I had a lot of 10s!)

The Results: A Confirmation of My Colors

After the test, Bianca provided me with a full report, which included my personal color palette, along with an analysis of how these colors relate to me. It was a very pleasant moment to see all the colors that bring me joy displayed in one place.

For interiors, my palette turned out to be all shades of green – which made perfect sense. Green has always been a grounding, calming color for me. When it came to fashion, my feel-good colors were pinks and corals. No surprise there – I knew I loved these colors. But interestingly, I don’t actually wear them very often, and I wonder why.

What was interesting, though, was the realization that some colors I love weren’t there. Probably because I discarded images too quickly when they contained colors I disliked, instead of focusing on the ones I loved. But that’s the beauty of this method – it’s all about intuition, not logic. Bianca reassured me that it’s good I took the test this way because it meant my unconscious mind was truly making the choices.

My RAH Colors: Interior vs. Fashion

Would I Recommend It?

Absolutely!

While the test didn’t reveal anything drastically new for me (since I work with color daily), I can see how incredibly valuable it would be for designers wanting to better understand their clients. It’s also great for anyone curious about their own color preferences on a deeper, more emotional level.

I’d also say that Bianca did an amazing job guiding me through the process. She created such a positive and pleasant experience, and I can genuinely recommend her.

My Favourite RAH Colors: Interior vs. Fashion

All in all, this was such a fun color adventure! And now, I’m even considering reaching out to Raluca Andreea Hartea, the founder of the RAH Colour Test, for an interview. I’d love to hear the story behind this method straight from the source.

By the way, this post isn’t sponsored – I paid for the interior test myself, and Bianca generously offered me a fashion test (the color images in this version were slightly different, as interior colors tend to be lighter in value), which we did on the spot. Everything I’ve shared here is my honest experience and opinion.
